Hype On Sight

About Hype On Sight

Hype On Sight is a sneaker consignment shop inside Citadel Mall in Colorado Springs. The shop opened to serve a local sneaker community that didn't have a dedicated consignment store, and that mostly had to ship pairs out of state to sell them. The trade is simple: bring in pairs you no longer wear, the shop lists and sells them, the proceeds get split.

Who runs the shop

The shop is owner-run with a small team. Everyone behind the counter is a sneaker buyer themselves, not just a salesperson. The authentication work happens in-shop rather than being outsourced, and decisions about what to take in are made by the team day-to-day. If a pair comes in that the team can't verify confidently, it gets returned to the seller rather than going on the shelf.

How consignment works here

  1. You bring in a pair (or several). Walk in during mall hours, no appointment needed for one or two pairs.
  2. The team checks the pair for authenticity and condition. Takes about ten minutes per pair.
  3. If we'll take it, we agree on a list price with you. The split is straightforward and is on the consignment agreement you'll sign.
  4. The pair goes on the shelf and on the shop's online listings. Most pairs sell within a few weeks.
  5. When the pair sells, you get paid out by direct deposit, cash, or store credit (your choice).

What kind of sneakers

The shop trades in a wide range: Air Jordan retros, current and limited Nike and adidas releases, New Balance collab releases, Yeezys, some Asics and Salomon releases when there's local demand. We don't take heavily worn pairs unless they're rare; the shelf standard is unworn or lightly worn with minimal toe-bend or sole wear.

What we don't take: replicas (obviously), pairs without the original box if they're under a year old, beat-up daily wearers, anything we can't authenticate to a confident standard. If the pair doesn't make the bar, you're free to take it back the same day.

Why a shop, not just resale apps

Resale apps work for some sellers, but they take a cut, they handle shipping, and they leave Colorado Springs sellers waiting for a buyer who might not show. A local consignment shop closes the loop: a buyer in town walks in, tries the pair on, and walks out. Faster sale, fewer fees, and the pair stays local.

The buyer side benefits the same way. Trying a pair on before paying is hard to put a price on. A shop also gives you a place to ask questions and learn what's worth holding, which the apps can't really offer.

Hours and visit

The shop opens with the mall and closes with the mall, every day Citadel Mall is open. The fastest way to know we're there is to call ahead during mall hours, or to email if you're not in a hurry.
